An Open Letter to the Best Friend I Fell in Love With

“My heart is, and always will be, yours.” –Jane Austen

Dear You,

I’d like to start off by thanking you for all that you’ve done. Not only have you been a great friend and supporter of everything I do, but you’ve encouraged me to be the best that I could be. Without you, I would not have accomplished half of what I have.

This letter is for you, because I know you love when I write you letters. However, I’d like to share this with everyone because I’d like them to know just how wonderful you are too. I hope you don’t mind.

After getting to know you as well as I have, I’ve learned that there is no one else made for me as much as you are. Everything that you say or do makes me love you more, and that’s surprising because I normally hate people the more I get to know them. But with you, everything is different. I get butterflies whenever I see you and my heart starts pounding out of my chest.  At first I was convinced that I had some strange sort of heart defect, to be honest. There was no way that a boy was making me feel so strongly. But then here you are.

Being around you was like being at home. Mostly because whenever we hung out, it was at my house. But for the sake of this mushy moment I’m trying to have, let’s look at it like a metaphor. Being wrapped in your arms makes me feel like I’m finally somewhere safe in this crazy world full of danger. Whenever I’m with you I feel relaxed and at peace. Laying on your chest, hearing your heartbeat and looking up into your beautiful eyes is what I could only imagine heaven on Earth is like.

No matter what we go through, I know that I will always have a special place in my heart for you. I will wait for you forever, whether that means waiting for you to ever talk to me again or waiting for you to get me chicken nuggets. I’ll be waiting. I don’t want to imagine myself with anyone else, so please let it be the chicken nugget option. That’s always a good option!

You’ve been a great addition to my life, and you’ve helped me make so many memories. Your heart is pure gold and I hope that even though we go through drama like it’s water, I still have a place in it. Thank you for being my best friend. I love you, and I always will.
