So… I got a new engagement ring. And I still have my first one. Yeah, I’m a little indecisive. Most people don’t really get more than one, at least not only a few months after getting their first, so this is something I never really expected to happen. Before I show you guys my new ring, I want to talk a little about why I got a new ring and where I got it. If you don’t really care and just want to see the new bling, keep scrolling.
I’ve had some people ask me why I got a new ring. They automatically assume that I broke or hated my first ring. That’s more or less the reason that I wanted to clear all that up in today’s post.
Long story short- I didn’t hate my ring, break it, or lose it. Colt and I just experienced a shift in our relationship that came all at once, and we chose to mark that significance with a new ring. I still have my first ring, which was something I was adamant about. When we were looking for a new ring, the thought of trading in the first was always floating around, but I knew I would regret losing the ring he proposed to me with. We even talked about trading in the center stone for a new one, but I am way too sentimental to do that.
Since I refused to give up the O.G. ring, we knew we had to look at cheaper priced pieces. I tried Instagram’s explore page, Pinterest, Etsy, everything. One thing that kept popping up was Modern Gents Trading Co.. I had heard of them before through a few Instagram ads, but never explored their website.
They didn’t have too much to choose from gold-wise, but they had so many pretty rings at great prices that I felt stupid passing it up. I ended up going with their Sofia ring, which is silver. Here are some pretty pictures of it.
You’d never guess by looking at it, but this ring only cost us $59.95! Isn’t that crazy? It worked out perfectly for us because we didn’t have to drop thousands on a ring that would be half the size as this one.
Now is the part where I say that this is not a sponsored post, because it’s about to sound real sponsored.
One big reason for the low price is that Modern Gents does not support mined diamonds, but rather a diamond simulant that is just as sparkly and shiny (if not more). I’m no jeweler, but I can’t tell the difference between the real diamond in my first ring and the simulant in this one!
Another perk about their rings is that they will never make your finger green! It’s common for cheap rings to give you a little green skin, but the materials in these rings are just as sound as those you’d get at Jared’s. And if something were to happen to your ring, there’s also a lifetime warranty!
Overall, I’m so happy we got my new ring from Modern Gents and I know I’ll be buying from them again in the future. Their rings would work as great low-budget engagement/wedding/promise rings and are worth considering if you don’t want to break the bank to pop the question.
So, now the question needs to be asked- will I ever wear my first ring again? Absolutely. I alternate between the two. While I love my new ring, nothing can ever replace the ring that Colt proposed to me with.
