I originally thought about putting this beauty in the first newsletter (which you should subscribe to), but I was too obsessed and had to share here.
The other day, Colt and I took a little trip to Hobby Lobby to get some bedroom decor since we’re finally working on making something out of that room. But when we got there and saw we’d be spending way too much on the original decoration we had in mind, we opted to go for a different type of change.
My parents got us nightstands for Christmas, but they didn’t come in until early February so we’ve been working on making them “fit the room.” When we first put them in, they were really cute and we were so excited to finally have nightstands. But as we’ve looked at them more, we realized they look a little dull. So we chose to liven them up with some new handles.
We talked and agreed on mismatching knobs as replacements. I’ve seen a lot of cute pictures of these styles on Pinterest and wanted to give it a go.
Minor disconnect, however.
I made the mistake of letting Colt choose his own knobs, and he’s a creative fella. I chose the really cute vintage-looking white knobs you see and, well, he went for more of a “western farmhouse” vibe, for lack of better description. See for yourself.
I thought this would be a fun little cheap DIY update, but guess what y’all. It rung up at around $40. My knobs? About $2 each. Colt’s knobs? NINE FREAKING DOLLARS.
Ok. Deep breath. It’s ok.
Being that I had an otherwise very mundane day, I was so ready to install the new knobs as soon as we got home. Colt helped me out since I had my nails done and I somehow mess them up whenever I do the simplest tasks. I had to capture plenty of pictures of him since he’s the absolute cutest when he helps me out.
I love making subtle little changes like these because something so simple can show so much personality. Take Colt’s knob choices for example. I couldn’t think of any better knobs to describe who he is.
In some ways (“some” as in many, many ways), I didn’t think this was worth an entire post. It was just a little change, but enough to give some life to our nightstands and the ambiance of the room. I’ve referred to this blog as my digital diary a few times, so I thought that if for no other reason, this would be fun for me to look at one day as one of our adventures into discovering our style as a couple.
Here’s so many more changes coming to our cute little apartment in due time!
