After having Haiden, I realized how unprepared I was for the postpartum side of things. Everyone talks about what you need to get for the baby and what to bring in your diaper bag, but what about after all of that is said and done? Mamas need some TLC and it seems like not many people talk about it before the time comes.
I was fairly lucky with my labor and only needed to get two small stitches, so my healing process wasn’t as hard as so many others. But that was also in part to all of the self care I gave myself afterward. Remember to remember yourself once your little one is here or you’ll feel the effects big time!
Here’s what I recommend for your postpartum care for both physical and mental health!
Homemade Witch Hazel + Aloe Pads
Padsicles (hospital provided some for me but I had these on standby)
Peri Bottle (again, hospital provided one, but I also had this one)
Granny Panties (Hanes high wasted were my go-to)
Every body is different, so some of these items may not apply, or there may be other items you may need. The fun twist of it all is that there is no 100% answer of what you will need. No matter how much preparation you put into it, you just can’t know for sure. I stocked up on padsicles and a peri bottle ahead of time just to never take them out of the box. I didn’t get myself granny panties and my mom had to buy me some after the fact. This list can’t tell you what you’ll definitely need, but it gives you an idea of what to expect.
