Books I NEED To Read

I’ve never really had the time (or interest) to read. I used to love reading, but as I grew older, I felt a shift where I almost never picked up a book unless I absolutely had to… and even that was rare. But I recently decided that I want to change that.

I took my biweekly trip to Target with my sister the other day. It was one of the first times in a while that I wasn’t being rushed, so I thought I’d stop at the book section. I found myself drowning in so many options. My sister was not getting me out of the aisle no matter how hard she tried.

Unfortunately, groceries were top priority, so I could only get one book that trip. After ten minutes of going back and forth, I finally chose Own Your Everyday by Jordan Lee Dooley. It’s a beautiful book so far. It’s all about overcoming pressure and getting past whatever is holding you back. I really needed to read it right now. Perfect book, perfect timing.

But, like I said, there were a ton of books that I wanted to read. I was sure to jot down all the titles and authors so I could remember them all and start checking them off a list. I even looked online for even more books I may want to read.

How to Ace Online College Classes

Online classes are a blessing and a curse for the busy student.

It took me a while to get the hang of taking online classes. At first I thought it was going to be super easy because I could log in whenever I had free time, but I think we can all agree it isn’t that easy. Being able to work at my own pace was super beneficial for me but then I started procrastinating like no other.

1. Manage your time well.

This goes without saying but I’m saying it anyway. It’s pretty much a golden rule for college. Online classes require a lot of dedication because unlike in-person classes, you don’t have a specific time to take the class. You have to make the time for it yourself and stay disciplined.

2. Take notes.

A lot of students like to breeze through the lessons and not pay attention because, well, who needs to when you can use the book for everything?! Taking notes helps you make sense of what you’re learning, and it’s saved my butt quite a bit with my online classes.

3. Spread out your lessons.

I’m guilty of having the mindset that if I cram a bunch of weeks worth of lessons into the couple hours of free time I have, I can finish the class sooner and have one less thing to worry about. What I don’t take into account is the fact that I’m paying good money for these classes and need to actually retain the information. So take this tip from someone who makes this mistake always. As long as you’re meeting deadlines, take your time to learn the material!

4. E-mail your professor

This one might seem a little odd, but hear me out. In in-person classes, you may not realize it but just by being there, you’re already building some sort of relationship with your instructor. They’re seeing the effort you’re putting in (or not putting in) and associate that to your capabilities in a work setting. Use emails as a way to introduce yourself to your online professors so they, too, know who you are and what you’re like as a student. I mean, recommendation letters don’t write themselves!

Those are my tips on how to ace your online classes! I know there’s so many other ways you can achieve that A, but this is what works for me. If you have other tips, let me know!

Megann Louise in 2020

Happy New Year! I hope everyone celebrated safely!

I, for one, rang in the new year in my pajamas. That’s right, no big “roaring 20’s” party for me. In typical Megann fashion, I was feeling a little under the weather so I decided to stay home and watch the ball drop from the comfort of my parents’ house.

I spent the last couple days of 2019 laying out the groundwork for what will be a transformative year for MegannLouise. I made it my New Year’s Resolution to make big changes with my online presence, so of course my top priority is to get my blog looking neater. I have so many crazy ideas that I can’t wait to get started on. There’s so much I can’t really share yet, but trust me- it’s going to be wild.

I can say that I will be posting regularly now, which has been something I’ve really struggled with in the past. It’s crazy to think that I finally figured out how to keep things going without big gaps when I used to pull my hair out over it. We’re going to leave inconsistency in 2019!

I’m also hoping to step my photography game up so I can include more pictures in my posts! I’m a visual person so that’s always my favorite part of reading others’ uploads.

OH! I plan to be using my Facebook page a lot more this year, so click here or the link below to like and follow along with everything I share on there!

This year is going to be so full of change and I can’t wait to see where it takes us!

If you missed it, I made a Facebook page! It’s where I’ll be sharing behind the scenes work, life updates, and other fun things you won’t see here! Check it out and drop a like!

My August Goals

We’re a few days into August and it’s time to manifest some goals. I feel like there’s no better month for these goals to come to fruition than my birth-month (btw, today’s my 21st birthday), so let’s all cross our fingers that some miracles happen!

August is a busy month for me for sure. I turn 21, move to a new apartment, and start another semester of college all within a matter of days. I’ll barely get a chance to take a breath until September rolls around! But with so many things going on come so many chances to open doors for myself. Let’s get into my goals for this month.

Firstly, I want to restyle my wardrobe. My taste has changed a lot since I’ve really got shopping so a lot of my clothes are just not cutting it for me anymore. I really want to go through everything I own before I move to my new apartment. I’d love to donate a ton of my clothes because they’re all wearable. I might sell some others to be able to replentish my closet.

I want to have a good birthday. I only turn 21 once, right? I’m not big on drinking so I probably won’t be blacking out or anything, but I love using birthdays as an excuse to have an over-the-top good time with friends and family.

Another goal for the month is to create a safe place in my new apartment. I’ll be sharing the apartment with three other girls so I already expect my room to be my number one place to go whenever I’m there. I want my bedroom to be cozy and welcoming as soon as you walk in, so hopefully I’ll be able to pull it off. I’m really big into creams, whites, and pinks so I’m really tying those into my room. I’ve already gotten a lot of what I need for my room so I have a good idea of how everything is going to look. I’m super excited to see the end result though since I’m so into interior decorating!

I start school in a couple weeks so I’m hoping to start the semester off well. I miss campus a lot and all the friends I made last year. I hope to feel my life fall into place once I’m in my classes and studying what I love.

This month I also want to grow my blog and social media. I’m finally starting to look at my social media as a business more than a personal account. I want to start incorporating my blog into my different social media more and building off of what I’ve already started. I’ve also been wanting to start posting on my Youtube channel for real. I posted one video, cringed a day later, then deleted it and pretended it never happened. Once I’m all moved in at my new place I want to try all that again.

Well, I’m off to enjoy my 21st!

If you missed it, I made a Facebook page! It’s where I’ll be sharing behind the scenes work, life updates, and other fun things you won’t see here! Check it out and drop a like!
